Hard Water USA
Most regions of the USA are in hard water areas as opposed to soft water areas. But water’s water right? Well yes and no.
Water is vital for us all and it seems to make little difference whether you’re water’s soft or hard, as long as it’s clean water. Our bodies have been designed to deal with water no matter what form it takes.
The Hard Water Problem
“So where’s the problem?” you ask. Well although you, your pets and your plants have no problems with it, everything else does.
For example washing machines, dishwashers, kettles, the harder the water the quicker they clog up. You see, hard water contains minerals dissolved in the water which come out and create a white gritty substance that’s called limescale.
And that’s bad because it reduces the life of your washing machine, dishwasher, kettles. These are especially affected as these appliances heat the water and this is the catalyst for the water to dump the minerals dissolved within it as limescale.
Hard Water Produces Limescale
Every noticed that white chalky deposit around your bath taps, around the shower head. Ever noticed that those glass shower doors that once looked so good, when new, are now streaky and dull looking? The reason is hard water in your home.
It’s no coincidence that when you go to a show room and see all the bathroom suites, none of them are connected up. Because if they were, the same limescale deposits would occur and no one would buy those products.
Home Water Softeners are the Answer
So what can you do about it? Well there is hope. And the solution is remarkably simple and completely maintenance free. You get a water softener installed. How Does a Water Softener Work
This is a device that’s plumbed into water supply as it enters your home. Hard water goes in soft water comes out. It’s that simple.
We said it’s maintenance free and it is. But there is one thing you have to do and that’s to add salt blocks into the device. You see it’s the salt, ordinary table salt, that drives the mechanism that turns the water soft.
Slowly the salt block gets used up and need replacing, which is your only job, couldn’t be simpler. Salt, being one of the most abundant substances on the planet, is relatively cheap and companies can provide these relatively inexpensively and have them delivered to your door.
Finally – Soft Clothes, Another Benefit
There are other big benefits too. Clothes washed with soft water feel better, stay softer and towels retain that natural bounciness they had when you first bought them. All this comes by using soft water. What’s there not to like?
